As most will know, the MacBooks do not have a cd/dvd drive, and therefore do
not come with a back up disk. So, how do we go about reinstalling the OS in an

Hello Andy,
First of all, no Macs come with boot disks anymore. That ended with the arrival
of the Appstore, much to my regret.
All Macs running Lion or later have a recovery partition which is where you go
to reinstall the system. Alternatively, you can download the OS again and make

What I do is I use lion disk maker to make a bootable usb key as they call it.
It's actually pretty easy but make sure you have the partition as a guid
partition first. I also can use CCC to do the same thing so both tools for me
work very well. The advantage is you can keep your lion or mount

We are now able to report on our findings with Sound Forge 1.0® Mac. There are
quite a lot of unlabelled controls on the main toolbar. Gordon and I plan to

Yes, I did try Sound Forge quite some time ago, I was able to edit with it but
found problems manipulating the data.
Sound Forge for the Mac -as is the case with the Windows version - IS NOT a
multi track recorder or editor.

hello Sarah
That's not far short of what we have here actually and the vast majority of it
was created from CD or CD image by us personally. But the point here is that
even those songs which we did buy from iTunes are being duplicated and, looking
at one directory of files here, I see that
Andy, when you hear the startup chime hold down command r for at most 30
seconds, might be much less on an Air though. The recovery partition
should boot up and you can start VoiceOver with command f5. The rest
should be self explanatory but if not please ask for further help.

Hmm. You might have something corrupted or something. I don't' use iTunes match

It probably can, but it will try and make you use disk utility. I really
don't' like this method as for me its way too complex. I use lion disk maker
which is a free app that can do this and does do this well.

May I just point out that the MacBook Air doe snot have an Ethernet port. The
only kind of network interface is, therefore, WiFi and, if you possess such a
thing as a BlueTooth dongle or modem, you could do it that way. Otherwise, the

I came across this via Twitter and thought it might be relevant.
It is, as the subject suggests, a link to a petition started by a noted expert

make Logic Pro X more accessible. It can be found at:
Andy yes, as Apple needs to verify it's you who will be reinstalling the
Os. The Usb key sounds the way forward though as it sounds like no
connection is required since you are burning the operating system image
to a Usb key.

I need someone to contact me off list, if you've ever used whmcs in
combination with a whm/CPanel server. Tech support is being quite
unreliable. I figure if anyone on the list has used the two products in
combination with each other, maybe then you all could give me a quick hand

Yeah, I've heard of that manager though never tried it.
I tried the Dashlane 1 Password Manager which was perfectly accessible for Mac,
its free unless you pay for the syncing across platforms so that may be another
alternative for those looking for a nice Password Manager and automation tool.
Because I'd like to be system indipentend and have my data accessible not only
on Mac or iOS which is IMHO the case with the iCloud password management
solution.
Cheers,

Whilst the new OSX may offer password management the tools that were mentioned

Hi Jim,
The commands you want our command left and right arrow, respectively. Home and
End will not help in this case, but these will work in most apps. Similarly,
command up and down arrows will move to top and bottom of the document.
Best,
