Hello everybody
I haven’t been around for a while as I’ve been incredibly busy. But I wanted to
alert you all to an application which you may be tempted to buy.
Although this is a totally genuine application, it works very well as long as
you’re not a VoiceOver user. The configuration utility
Hello Lynne,
In February 2011 I contacted Objective Development, the Developers of Little
Snitch, to ask about VO compatibility. I’ve pasted their response below. I have
not tried Little Snitch in a couple of years; thus, I cannot say whether these
same instructions will work for the current
VoiceOver a security risk? That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.

Yeah, sounds like an excuse for the developer to not make his app accessible.

Yeah, blind people using technology as a security risk? Whatever… I digress.

The Developer has a legitimate concern. VO is a utility with fingers deep into
parts of the MacOS and thus must be considered a potential threat vector. I’ve
often wondered if Apple’s conservative approach to the development of VO is due
at least in part to security concerns.

Not that I'd understand a word, but do we have documented evidence of this?
Again, not that I'd understand any of it as I'm no programer. lol!
I think that upon launch the app should detach if voice over is on and unable
it. This happens in one of the apps I play with on ios. its a game. and
Hello Sarah
I write from personal experience, nothing more. I bought the application when
it was on promo from Mac Update. I wish I hadn’t. I can tell you that we have
tested with and without VoiceOver. When VoiceOver is on, the configuration
application is totally invisible. That does not
Hello Bryan
This is why we run this group! Although at first I was reticent regarding the
assertion that VoiceOver constitutes a security threat. But I can actually see
where this is going because of applications such as TeamView which effectively
give other applications control of the Mac,
I have never used this app, but would like to as a question. I know this isn’t
a Windows list, nor a Windows screen reader list. But wouldn’t the same thing
be true for Windows screen readers? Are they in any way a security risk?

Lol. I actually just replied with a similar suggestion, that is, if my prior
message sent. I dunno if what I suggested would be at all possible, although
I've seen plenty of appsin ios that do this kind of thing. sorry I can't go in
to too much more detail then that, but there eyou go.

No no, I mean documented evidence of how deeply voice over is integrated
I think she means documented evidence of Voiceover being a security risk.

Hello Lynne
Hello Lynne,
I agree with your thought about the Developer adding an option to the Installer
to enable VO access. I used Little Snitch up until 2008 or 9 when I still had
enough vision, and I considered it a fantastic little tool and a helpful layer
of security. I wouldn’t mind having it
