Hi Donal It's not the best way of doing this job, but with Migration assistant, you can actually check boxes for which types of files you want to move. But what I would suggest you do is, if possible, just move/copy the files on block to an external disk then copy them back over that way. If

I ended up more or less doing that Gordon, except I used a NAS. Did the job I was writing to the list only in case there was a method I didn't know of. Dónal On 20 Sep 2012, at 11:31, Gordon Smith gor...@mac-access.net wrote: Hi Donal It's not the best way of doing this job, but with

I believe there's target mode but since I've never used a mac in target mode I don't know how it works. I think you attach a firewire cable to both macs and boot throne you want to move your folder from by holding down the t key. After that I don't know what to do. Hopefully this is a push in

Hi Sarah, Unfortunately the Air doesn't have a firewire port. You're right though Target mode would be an option if they did have those ports. Dónal On 17 Sep 2012, at 16:59, Sarah Alawami wrote: I believe there's target mode but since I've never used a mac in target mode I don't know how

Ah cool. I'm remembering the manuals I've read. Hmm. I wonder if there is a way to do it via air drop or Bonjour. I've never used either but good luck. On Sep 17, 2012, at 9:01 AM, Dónal Fitzpatrick dfitz...@computing.dcu.ie wrote: Hi Sarah, Unfortunately the Air doesn't have a firewire

I think I recall there is a way to set up a Mac so that it is a slave to another Mac, possibly in Recovery Partition. However as an alternative an obvious response, and probably a stupid suggestion because it is obvious , it occurs to me why don't you just use an external USB hard drive to act as

Hi David, No you're right, absolutely right in fact, but alas I don't have my USB disk with me and I *need* to move this stuff. The mbp is going in for a battery service tomorrow and I've no intention of leaving 100 gig of audio on there just in case it gets, shall we say, borrowed. Dónal On

Hi Dónal, Can't you just ftp or sftp from one machine to the other if they're both on either a wireless or wired network? Do you have the USB ethernet connector for the MacBook Air? Of course, with 98 GB, that might take a while. Also, AirDrop is supposed to work as a way to share files
