If i’m understanding you properly, you are using the ordinary space bar and not
VOiceOver Space. The best way I can explain this is to say that you’re probably
accidentally hitting the play button without actually selecting a song in the
way a sighted person understands it. Hitting

Actually, I always use enter to play songs, space to play pause or fn key plus
f8. I have always had that issue with space playing different track I was on.
but enter for me always worked.
