Guys,
Regarding my last post on how to remove VIP members from the VIP group in Mail
on OSX, never mind. I figured it out.
I didn’t realize that you had to expand the VIP group. once I hit vo+back
slash and did so, I saw all the members, and it was then just a matter of me
finding who I
vered a bug with the VIP feature in Mail.
1. I open Mail.
2. I double tap on VIP in my list of mailboxes. Next to that I have 1 unread
message.
3. When I open the mailbox, the list is empty.
So where is the 1 unread message exactly coming from?
This is on an iPhone 4s running 7.0.3.
Any help gr

Hello everyone, this is Chris here.
Please can you try and help?

unread message.

Hi Paul,
If the folders in your VIP mailbox are empty, you'll have to delete this by
getting rid of the plist file. Quit mail, and from Finder use the
Command-Shift-G "Go to folder" shortcut. Then type or paste in:

Hello,
I am running Mac OS 10.8.3. I seem to have somehow acquired a vip mail box in

I'm not sure. I guess it could work, but I personally set up server side
filters so my machine does not have to do any work. You can try it if you want.
Take care.

hi Zack,
thanks for explaining the purpose of the VIP. I just learned how to do it last
night. now my sister has her own mailbox in VIP. the strange thing is that
there is now a VIP mailbox for me as well. not sure why that happened, I never
set one up for myself. its not as though I would
email address and click remove from VIP. I mean double tap, but I
think you get it.

Hello Cathy,
Someone may correct me about this, but one of the ways in which VIP differs
from smart mailboxes and rules is in the way they get treated under iOS 6, if
you use an iPhone or iPad. Although you can create smart mailboxes that show

hello,
I am attempting to understand how VIP differs from rules and smart mailboxes.
from my understanding, rules place a message in a specified folder of your
choosing, while smart mailboxes save a copy of a message from the inbox in a
special folder. so what does VIP do differently?
thanks
No the vip boxes do not sync over iCloud. I know this as I have 2 sets of vip,
one for the ios and one for the mac.
and as for the wrong list I've done that too many times to count. lol!
Take care.

I certainly wish that if there were informational sessions regarding this
change that there would be better coordination of the dissemination of

Hi Kathy,
The purpose of the VIP mailbox is to let you see messages from a specific list
of people you particularly care about, and be specially notified when they send
you a new one. I use it quite often myself for friends and so on.
Yours,
Zack.

Hi all
Can somebody remind me how you disable Apple Mail's "VIP" function? There's
this one person whose messages are being re-directed to the VIP folder and it's
slowing down efficiency. I need to find a way to disable this behaviour.
Thanks.
