Thanks for the suggestions Thomas. I did VO shift M and selected the paste item when I was sitting in the folder I wanted to move the item to, and it actually pasted the item in that folder. Don't know why command v itself didn't move it. Is this a common occurence, where you actually have

It seems to be more common of a problem with Lion for some reason. But sometimes the command v works just fine. Have also found that holding the command down a little longer before doing the letter v more times then it will do an actual copy instead of moving it, but also sometimes as a

Try command option v and see if it literally moves it over. You could also add the fold that you are moving stuff to to your sidebar with command t then find it again while interacted in sidebar and command v or command option v and see if it moves it that way, then after done find the folder
