I had actually tried all those suggestions and you're absolutely spot on they
do usually work. However in this instance it was something to do with an
HTMl-based log on window for a hotel WIFI network. Once I logged on and closed
the resulting home page, it resolved itself.

Have you tried turning voice over off and back on again with command f5? This
usually works to fix those kind of issues. Also, If your computer has been left
on over a long period of time, you may need to restart.

An odd thing has arisen. Quicknav will not turn on or off when I press left
and right arrows. Also, when I do turn it on using the VO commands list, when
