Help opening a FTP site

2013-05-31 Thread Margaret Booth
When I go into Safari and I press command t and paste the FTP web site address
into it and press enter instead of the web page coming up in safari it comes up
into fire fox. Is there a way that I can prevent this?

I have also tried to open it through an email and it still comes up in fire
fox. I have click on other web addresses in an email and they open in safari.

I'm hoping someone can please tell me what to do to prevent the FTP web site
address opening in fire fox.

then music folder all the music you have imported from cd iPhone or
downloaded from iTunes will be in their. Yes you can create a playlist
to create a playlist first open file menu then select new playlist
next you will have to choose a name for you're playlist then after
that you have to drag the songs to you're playlist then that is it you
have successfully created you're playlist.

Video adapter for the Mac Mini Question.

2013-05-31 Thread Jim Noseworthy

Hi Folks:

I've got the necessary components to run my Mac Mini without a monitor.
My question is, is there anything particular that I need to do with the
VGA to NTSC converter or does it just work out of the box? I did plug it
in to a USB port on the mac as well as connected it to a mini display
port VGA adaptor.

Thanks.

Re: an accessible way to manage b ooh marks and folders in safari

2013-05-31 Thread Esther
Hi Sarah,

OK, here's another suggestion for a bookmark manager that will also handle
duplicates: BookMacster. The background is that there was an older version of
this product called Bookdog, and I know lots of VoiceOver users used that,
including some people like Dane, who posted about it on this list (quite a
while ago). You need to be careful which version you get, because they still
have software support for older Mac operating systems, and even PPC Macs, I
think. The current version works for Snow Leopard and above. The developer's
web page speaks of a trial version. The software license costs $22.95, but
there's a 33% academic discount. Bookdog had a long history of Mac usage, so
I'd be optimistic about the present software's usability and accessibility, but
I haven't tried this product myself. Basically, there was an interval after
Snow Leopard when I don't think that an updated product was available.
Developer's web page indicates this has been tested through Mountain Li
 on.

Here's the URL for BookMacster at Sheep Systems:
http://www.sheepsystems.com/products/bkmx/

I'll also post it's MacUpdate web page, although in this case I would go to the
developer's web site. MacUpdate page for BookMacster:
https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/34011/bookmacster

Remember to save a copy of your Bookmarks plist file before you try it.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Re: Video adapter for the Mac Mini Question.

2013-05-31 Thread Esther
Hi Jim,

You might want to wait to hear from John Panarese, or some other Mac Mini owner
who uses the adapter combination in place of a monitor, but my understanding is
that as long as the VGA to NTSC converter from Sewell Direct is plugged into
the VGA end of the Apple mini display port VGA adapter, this should work as
though you had connected your Mini to a monitor that is turned off. I think the
Mini tries to detect whether a monitor is present when it starts up, so you
might need to have this adapter combination in place when you start up your
Mini.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Did you create the playlist and make sure songs are in order, then right click
the playlist, hit burn and choose your options? If you are still getting the
burn software not found that's not good as it uses iTunes, unless something
missing apple wise.

Take care.

This program is also not very accessible. When you first launch you are

Re: an accessible way to manage b ooh marks and folders in safari

2013-05-31 Thread Esther
Hi Sarah,

I'd try contacting this developer and mentioning that the earlier versions of
BookDog used to be accessible with VoiceOver on the Mac. There's a reasonable
chance this could get fixed, and the accessibility upgraded. While it might be
possible to write an AppleScript that would go through and check for
duplicates, I doubt that it would be as simple to optimize and check for broken
links, etc. as simply asking the developer of an existing app that was
accessible with VoiceOver in an earlier incarnation to fix the accessibility
issues.

Cheers,

Esther

As the Mac Access Dot Net administrators, we do our very best to ensure that
the Mac-Access E-Mal list remains malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and
worm-free. However, this should in no way replace your own security
strategy. We assume neither liability nor responsibility should something
 unpredictable happen.
