RE: Mails in junk

2014-07-31 Thread David Griffith
This issue has arisen on another list I am on.
After investigation there, it is apparently the case that the problem arises
from BT mail users, for example, BT Internet or BT Yahoo mail holders etc. who
are also list members flagging list messages as spam whilst on their web mail
rather than unsubscribing. Please can I make a personal plea for list members
not to do that. They may think they are blocking posts from an individual but
it is the list as a whole that they are damaging.

Also if more than one person can access the relevant email account the list
member may not even be aware that this flagging of list traffic as spam is
happening.

Anyway because this inappropriate flagging of list messages as spam is
happening this degrades the reputation of the list as a whole. Consequently any
of the list traffic which goes through the BT mail servers get tagged with the
word bulk in the subject line which is enough for many email clients to simply
direct to spam.
Personally I have had to turn spam guard off on my BT account to continue to
get messages. I have also had to switch to Gmail for some of my list
memberships.

What we should all do is if we reply to messages to edit any bulk flag out of
the subject line.
However for example whilst I am sending this mail without bulk in the subject
line the BT Mail Server may well insert bulk if it considers Mac-Access as
originators of spam.

When you see Bulk

2014-07-31 Thread Gordon, Lynne Tracy
Hello everybody

We have been experiencing problems with some providers, primarily BT over here
in the UK, who insist on putting group mail with the precedence marked as 80
into spam folders, and adding the “Bulk” flag to the subject line of subsequent
messages.

This has been occurring quite a lot lately on list. So we need to ask for your
cooperation on this issue because it threatens the group as a whole. If you
respond to a message which has “Bulk” in the subject line, we need you to
please take the time to remove it. This issue is an important one, so much so
that we will have to consider taking remedial action against those who do not
cooperate on this issue.

At the moment, I prefer to rely on voluntary cooperation. I shall try to
develop a filter so that the subject line is edited at the server level.
However, effective as of now, if a user persistently doesn’t cooperate with us,
we shall have to consider putting them into moderation mode until they do.
This is something which we’d really rather not have to do as it causes us work.
But we do need to think about the group as a whole, and we need to ensure that
we don’t get spammed by other providers.

We would also suggest that BT users consider other options regarding mail
providers when they join groups such as ours. I would remind them that we
offer free E-Mail accounts to those who would like them, as long as they agree
not to abuse the service.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Kindest regards

Gordon

Please could someone advise on how I can restore my internet connection and

In this menu you find the wifi option press vo space bar on it.
Next choose the wifi network you are trying to connect to.

iTunes Loading Duplicates, Missing Tracks

2014-07-31 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi all

These issues are really starting to bug me, to the point of my being almost
ready to ditch iTunes, including the iTunes Store) and seek out alternative
music services. I’n sure they exist, and maybe even in my preferred format as
well, (FLAC).

But for now, has anybody else seen the issue of iTunes downloading duplicates
of tracks, so that each album folder is filled with two, sometimes three
duplicates of each file in an album? If so, does anybody know how to block
this hole?

Also, I’ finding that sometimes when I buy compilation albums, iTunes downloads
most of it but misses quite a few tracks. Is there any way to revive the
missing download? When I go to the Store menu and have iTunes check for
available downloads, it comes back with the message that iTunes has downloaded
all available items for this account which, quite clearly, is not the case.

Thanks in advance.

Kindest regards

 Hello everybody

We have been experiencing problems with some providers, primarily BT over
here in the UK, who insist on putting group mail with the precedence marked
as 80 into spam folders, and adding the “Bulk” flag to the subject line of
 subsequent messages.

This has been occurring quite a lot lately on list. So we need to ask for
your cooperation on this issue because it threatens the group as a whole. If
you respond to a message which has “Bulk” in the subject line, we need you to
please take the time to remove it. This issue is an important one, so much
so that we will have to consider taking remedial action against those who do
 not cooperate on this issue.

At the moment, I prefer to rely on voluntary cooperation. I shall try to
develop a filter so that the subject line is edited at the server level.
However, effective as of now, if a user persistently doesn’t cooperate with
us, we shall have to consider putting them into moderation mode until they
do. This is something which we’d really rather not have to do as it causes
us work. But we do need to think about the group as a whole, and we need to
ensure that we don’t get spammed by other providers.

We would also suggest that BT users consider other options regarding mail
providers when they join groups such as ours. I would remind them that we
offer free E-Mail accounts to those who would like them, as long as they
agree not to abuse the service.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Hello Henry. For future reference you should be able to hit control options
command and your left or right arrow until it says voice. you can then hit
control option command and down arrow until it says the voice you want and
there you go. You can also change a couple other things there too.

Hello Henry. For future reference you should be able to hit control options

control option command and down arrow until it says the voice you want and
there you go. You can also change a couple other things there too.

Getting music from my Mac air to my iPhone

When I go to the Mac book air, I can hear the CD or music there, but it is not

I have gone to the download and sync feature several times, and this doesn't
seem to work.
Any suggestions?

ABBYY FineReader Pro on sale for US $74.99 until August 3rd.

2014-07-31 Thread Bryan Jones
Greetings everyone,

The ABBYY FineReader Pro OCR application is on sale in the US Mac App Store for
$74.99 until August 3, 2014. It normally sells for $99.99. Sorry, I don’t know
if this sale applies outside of the US.

A trial version of FineReader Pro can be downloaded from ABBYY’s website at
http://download.abbyy.com.

FineReader can recognize a huge number of different languages, and can properly
handle documents that contain more than one language. It can be operated in a
simple mode that requires little interaction, or you can opt to manually
control almost every aspect of the import/scan/convert/export process if you
prefer. FineReader can open and convert files from your local drives, from the
camera roll of an attached iDevice, and from supported scanners. FineReader Pro
performs the OCR process on the local machine rather than in “the cloud,” so an
Internet connection is not required during the process.

I consider this app and it’s predecessor, FineReader Express, to be two of the
most helpful productivity apps I’ve utilized as a blind Mac User. I have used
them to OCR thousands of pages of textbooks, bills, magazines, PDF image files,
and even screenshots of apps websites that contain inaccessible text elements.

HTH,
Bryan
