[MacGroup] Fwd: Antivirus

2019-01-29 Thread Pen Helm
I'm not suprised that Carbon Black is targed towards big corporations.
Sentinel One, which I use, is too, but there is a corporation called Malware
Managed that will get it for you.
My contact there has been very helpful. He is

(remove the "=".)

S1 is not up to Mac standards of ease of use, but I still feel good about it.

Hi Jeff,

I can answer only one of your questions…

It is possible from their site, both the simple and premium apps (simple
versions are FREE).

[MacGroup] iPad problem

2019-01-29 Thread Jeff @ SLYN Systems
My client brought over his iPad yesterday. As some of you know, I'm not a Mac
expert and appreciate everyone who posts here.
Any time he opens Safari, it goes to safarimaintenance.com which must be a
rogue website. Obviously, he has a touch screen but anytime I try to type in
the browser, it won't accept anything on screen. Plus, if I click on the other
choices, nothing happens.
He has a wireless keyboard to go with it but it's a Windows keyboard! LOL but
true.

I'd love to put Malwarebytes AntiMalware on it but no USB port for me to
transfer. Can I download from Malwarebytes site or do I have to go through the
Apple Store App?

The iPad had OS 12.1.3 waiting so I plugged the unit in and told it to download
& install. Hope that was a right decision.

How do I go about closing everything he has open to free up his RAM and how do
I remove all cache from Safari so there won't be anymore safarimaintenance.com?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Jeff

Most antivirus works by recognizing the signature of previously identified
viruses. So, for example, Norton only detects about 40% of threats. Newer AV
products claim to use AI and detect about 99%. I use SentinelOne. However,
Carbon Black is supposed to be even better than SentinelOne, with a 100% score.

I’ve used it, it’s a good program, cleans nicely. Onyx is another great
program, it’s free.
