I thought on the newer models resetting the T2 chip covered NVRAM as well.

Apple Diagnostics found nothing, so maybe resetting the NVRAM will sort the
problem.

Does “etc” include resetting NVRAM?
Did you run Apple Diagnostics?
What model MacBook? AppleCare?

Trashing the prefs worked for one cycle but then failed. Exactly the same as
what happened with resetting the T2 chip.
I’ve run out of ideas, so has anyone any other suggestions. The problem is
that the energy schedule settings will only work once and fail after the next
shut down.
