hey there,
just wondered if anybody has successfully used linux-phc to
reduce power consumption and fan interaction on their first
generation macbook as outlined here:

hey there,
the sound on my macbook _works_ great. I just wonder if you guys found
a mixer config with which the sound does not suck. Either, the sound on
the outputs (I tried both, headphones and speakers on the phone output
and the line-in) is either too quiet or very unclean. the noise makes me

hey there,
has anybody successfully used the mini-dvi2composite or svideo converter
with linux? particularly the new xrandr extension?
Does xrandr need a configuration for a tv in xorg.conf to actually
recognize the connected tv as a tv?

hey guys,
after migrating to kernel 2.6.21, isight stopped working in ekiga.
Unfortunately, I have not build ekiga with any debugging information and
I don't see how to get any debugging from ekiga itself.
However, the module builds fine but when I start ekiga, I don't get an

hey there,
I got suspend2ram working on my macbook1,1 but occasionally it would
wake up with the backlight switched off. Also the resume only works if I
suspend with s2ram -f -p -m.
The backlight issue is annoying because none of the linux solutions to
adjust the backlight work if the macbook come
hey,
with some delay here my working dualhead xorg.conf. I have a blackbook1

Hi there,
I am using my macbook with an external monitor at home. If I close the
lid, nothing happens as the i810
driver does not support CheckLid detection for the i9xx series (at least
that's what I read). However,
when I use normal lid-scripts both screens are turned of. Is there a way

Hi Brian,
thanks for your help. This is all very well but as I wrote, if I don't
bring up the interface at all at boot time and I just have a shellscript
like this:
iwconfig ath0 essid SCHOOLSSID
ifconfig ath0 up
dhcpcd ath0
the interface will not associate with any access point. iwconfig ap

hi there,
okay, I gave up on wifi autodetection since it would not work reliably.
But even if I manually configure the wifi on campus, the driver
sometimes fails to associate or claims association with an ap with quite
good link quality but then claims not to get dhcp-responses. I am
frustrated.

hi there,
I told you in my last email that i had problems with networkmanager and
the madwifi drivers. however, i experienced some more inconveniences
with guessnet. Has anybody got any kind of roaming setup working with
linux on the macbook? I dont need anything that actually reacts to

hi there,
I just got a black macbook and installed debian sid on it. Everything
works pretty well except the madwifi drivers. It seems that I have
problems connecting to some access points and I cannot yet tell what is
the determining feature that causes those failures. I am using
