Hello all,
First of all I just wanted to report that my mac mini is now ordered.
The apple support person was very nice and helpfull, though he didn't
know spacifics on voiceover and didn't know for example that MS office
isn't accessible on the mac as he asked me if I needed it. On

Hi Rossy,
If you have a MacBook Pro of any sort, you do not need to install the
MacBook Battery Update 1.4. Only if you have a MacBook model and if
it's firmware version, serial number, and pack lot code all meet the
specifications do you need to install this.
Cheers,

Hi Gene,
This firmware update is for Intel MacBooks. As I recall, you have a
G4 iBook which is a PowerPC (not Intel) machine. Your information
will not look the same under the power section. My G4 Powerbook
battery information does not look like the description given in the

Hi Mike,
Congratulations on your new Mac Mini. You asked about automatic
updates. Under your Apple menu there is an option named Software

Hi Robert,
I'm pasting this in from a message I sent in April about setting up
the iPod Nano 4G. It describes where to check for the updating
status when syncing -- this is the player status window of iTunes that
announces which track is currently playing, etc. The main thing is
that
Thanks Esther,
As always that is excellent information.

The first question I have is related to the ticking sound one can hear
when VO is focussed on the progress indicator during a download.
Somehow the ticking has stopped on my Mac, and I like it, and I want
it back. I explored System Preferences Sounds, but don't see anything
relating to
Regarding the first question: Not sure how to get the ticking to
return. I've never actually heard ticking sounds for anything other
than the Apple Software Update progress - all other ones are quiet
with VO. Maybe I've inadvertantly turned it off, as I think

Hi,
There is a VO shortcut to read the currently focused item. I am a
teacher of VO so I should know it, ... But a teacher can't know

Hi,
I faced the same problem. I am using a Mac Mini with MythTV on it and
am looking at switching to Tangerine. Tangerine is GPL software and is
under ddevelopement. MythTV does not use a standard VO accessible
interface, ... But Tangerine hopes to plug that hole.
