That is indeed the only way to do it. I contacted Apple about this some months ago, and made them aware of the bug that causes VO users to not use Airdrop normally. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update, but until then, the share menu is your only option. On Sep 8, 2013, at 9:10 AM, Edward

Okay, I researched my question and found a satisfactory answer. When you press record, there is a checkbox that says play through. I checked that, and I can hear the sound now. I have a new question related to this. When I create a new track and record on it, the first track does not play.
