scan problem with fine Reader Pro

So after I finish scanning and exporting a page in Fine Reader, the next time I try to scan something I get a scanner error and the Mac no longer seems to communicate with the scanner until I reboot. Not sure why this is happening. Anyone else see this? I'm using a Canon Lite scanner. Jenine
