Hi.
I think I had this issue also yesterday when I had to restart my mac. I closed
all apps, including mail. every app closed except mail, wich closed after a
minute or so.
(I am using also imap on my 2 computers and on my iPhone).

Hi all, have recently done a disc repair but it still happens. To the person
who suggested that I was using IMAP, that could well be the reason because when
setting up my two accounts with apple mail, by default it chose IMAP and if
they have problems at times then that's probably why its slow.
I first would recommendyou go into gmail on the web, then settings, pop/imap
forwarding. See if there's a setting there for pop, also look there for
instructions,as the port numbers might be different for pop. On apple mails
prefs then you'll change your incoming server in accounts>gmail to
po
As I do not read e-mail on my iPhone, and my wife thus far does not either, how
can I change servers to the pop server?

FWIW, I've used Mail with Gmail's POP server, and it's way faster. So I can
confirm that IMAP is way slower. I think it has to do with server syncing. I
think IMAP is still better if you have iOS devices that are using GMail as well.

Yes, I can confirm this, and I have done a disk repair. In fact, sometimes,
when I delete messages, they do not always go to the trash folder. I think
there may be issues at times with the G Mail server, as I see reference to the
server on occasion.

Hi,
Have you ever repaired the permissions through the disc utility application?
