I have Mail on my Mac and iPad and on the GMail server set to iMap. for
some reason, when I tell Mail to delete stuff, it doesn't delete it, it just
holds it. I can see the emails in the deleted items folder--over six thousand
messages, but I don't see how to reliably delete them on
On a related note, can anyone tell me why I am no longer seeing the all mail
folders in Apple Mail for any of my GMail accounts? I may be in the minority,
but I am one of those who wants access to that folder from the Mac.

Thanks for the tip. On my Mavericks system the checkbox for moving deleted
message to trash is dimmed. But the other settings seem to work.
