One of my mac minis will not run it, I plan on upgrading fairly soon,
but I think I will watch the list traffic for a little while first just
to make sure there are no major issues. I may wait until 10.8.1, not
sure yet, I'm sure I will probably upgrade within the next few weeks.

The preview pane, as far as I understand it, is the third column of the new
layout. The lines you hear read are in the second column, the message list
itself, and if you disable that third pane Mail shouldn't mark messages read
for you. I may be wrong on this, as the new Mail layout

Everything is so much more streamlined on the mac. And i'm loving the
applescript features. Don't know if there's a counterpart on windows, but this
