When you tried to perform the triple press of home, did your mother, sister, or
a person at the place where they bought there device already set it up? If so,
this is probably why Voiceover didn't come on when you tried triple pressing
the home button.

If the phone is configured as a standard device that doesn't use VO, then
Triple click home is not configured by default.
The triple click has to be the first thing you do on the device after the
screen comes up.

I think this is due to a miss understanding of How, why, and when
enabling/disabling Voiceover becomes the default action when triple press of
home is used. For example, you said your friend does not use voiceover. This
means, they did not use Voiceover to set up their iPad. If this

click home set up. They are phones, so the people in the cell carrier store set
things up for the users. Thanks, I'll keep this in mind when and if I get my

It seems to vary, but triple click home is not a guarantee, unfortunately. Have
your mac on hand just in case, or just have a sighted person help you; it's
only a few seconds, after all, then you're off and running. Since you already
have an iPhone, you will be fine with most of the gestures

It may take a bit, but it does work by default on all IOS products now.
When my wife and I got our iPad Minis, it went without a hitch.

I hope it does work then. My mom got an iPhone5, and my friend and sister both
got the 4s, and triple click home did nothing on any of them. Yes, it is

The iBooks does have a search function where you can search for phrases and
such. Also, I believe you can search for books using iTunes. I hope you get

All iPads have VO no matter the size. The 3g iPhone was last years model.
