Hi Alwine. Unfortunately you can not use the pearl scanner for anything else than open book. I will hope that there will be a camerascanner available in the future that works and that can work with finereader in some way. Unfortunately there are not many camera scanners that we can use. Let's

For scanning documents. CanonScan 9000F works well with FineReader Pro and Mavericks. Flat bed with cover you lift up, so i don`t know if it is usable to scan books. If you buy a 7kg Kettle Bell in a fitness training shop you can put it on the book or the scanning cover perhaps. To save a lot
