i solve this problem on mac mac before, you should quit your drop box.
i would assume that your drop box start at the log on.
you must delete that on system preferences users and groups login items
then intereacts on applications. then check drop drop box then stop
intereacting on it then
then restart you computer

I was able to successfully delete it by putting it back into the applications
folder and deleting from there.
You must tell it to keep both apps and then delete the copy.

I had something like this happen to me once, too. when you look at the app on
your desktop, does it say the word volume? If it does, try getting on top of it
and pressing command e for eject.
