I press space after typing the letters. When in a form field, I then tap delete
to remove the space from the edit field.

Hello,
Well I’m been playing with this for some time now and I can’t get my devices to
sync. It is a well known bug so will just stick with the app from smile.
Many thanks,

Hello,
Yes it is a part of OS X and IOS current versions. Not sure how long they’ve
been there just look under keyboard preferences in OS x preferences, keyboard
and on the text tab. For IOS in Settings, general, keyboard and the text
expansion button.

You can use it on both the Mac and iPhone. It's in the keyboard part of
settings and system preferences.

Hi all,
I'm curious about how others use this feature. It has always seemed very cool
to me, but I've never really found a use for it. I would love to hear examples
from others of instances where you use text expansion.
thanks,
Donna

Hello Anne,
Much appreciated. That’s a lot easier. Thanks.

I have trouble with the text expansion “sticking”. I set up one, for example,
to expand into my email address. Lots of times, it just remains as the three
letters and doesn’t expand into what it’s supposed to.
Have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hello Gena,
Sorry for my bad memory, after entering your string, press Tab rather than
VO-Right Arrow. The rest is correct.
Cheers,

Hello Gena,
On the Mac, to add a string and substitution:
• In System Preferences, press k for Keyboard and VO-Space to open that tab;
• Select Text;
• Press VO-Cmd-t to go to the table of substitutions;
• Press VO-Down Arrow to get to the Add button;
• Press VO-Space on the button and type your
Hello Jonathan,
I’ve just answered my own question. Yes, they should sync across but mine isn’t
so just investigating.

Hello Jonathan,
That’s exactly what I want to do but do they get carried across all your
devices or do you have to enter them on each device you wish to use? On the Mac
You have to do a lot of VO navigation, after pressing the add button, you have
to VO 9 times. As for IOS, the focus seems to
Hi Gina, I use the text expansion built into Mac and iOS and it's a huge time
saver. I've got a lot of three-letter abbreviations that result in expansion
into very lengthy messages. It's great for inquiries I get regularly, and I
like that once I get an expansion added, it's available on all
