OK, so I did all the things again I’ve been doing for the past four days and
this time it has worked. At least it has on my iMac, I have yet to try again on
my MBP.

Go to the app store, select the Updates tab then navigate to the
Update All button.
If you want to download the installer, still in the app store,
select the Categories tab under the Utilities heading. You will find the
installer there.

version is. It’s possible it updated on it’s own.
