I suspect the exported versions of the images are much smaller than the
original if it dropped from 115GB to 10. iPhoto adds some metadata stuff
but that's just indexes and things so the bulk of the files should be
the photos themselves. Maybe you have a lot of edits? In any case, I'd
still go
It's strange, because when I do an export, the 21833 photo's are only 10 GB,
but if I go into pictures, and attempt to copy the folder called iPhoto
library, it's 115 gb. Can't figure out what the major difference is here.
Another thing is, when I copy the iPhoto library istead of exporting, i

very small amount of stuff compared to iPhoto.
So if you just want a backup and to do it manually when needed then you
can just copy the iPhoto folder to your backup location and you're done.
