Back in the day, like 10 years ago, I was able to record 8 concurrent
tracks on an old powerMac g4. I would suspect even mundane hardware
today could handle all but the most extreme cases.

there are certified Apple Resalers who will reconfigure a stock Apple machine
for you. I believe

is one. just an example, not a recommendation. They do specialize in gear for
recording though.

Hard drives and ram are user replaceable parts and thus covered by
warranties. I called the Apple Store and asked this question before I dug
into the back of mine and installed ram. hth

in the 13 inch mbp's or I'd just go duo with a better harddrive.
