um, exactly what does this message have to do with Mac Visionaries or apple
tech support on apple devices?

It appears that we have either a spammer in the group or someone's account has
been hijacked.

btw, as a related question: are there malware packages designed to run on a mac
that can hijack an account and start spamming someones contact list?

there is not a copy of it in the Applications folder, you can download

Re: Purchasing apple watch

2018-03-24 Thread Alex Hall
I have the series 2 sport, which is the same as yours except for better water
resistance and onboard GPS. It runs as quickly and has the same storage.

Personally, I'm waiting for the next one before I upgrade. Mine works well
enough, and I'm told by other users that the Series 3 is a huge jump over the
original Apple Watch, but not so much of one over the series we both have.
Since I wouldn't get a huge increase in performance, I'm holding off for now.

That said, cellular is one reason to consider an upgrade. If you really need an
Apple Watch that can function (mostly) independently of its paired iPhone, the
Series 3 is your only option right now. Still, if you can wait, I'm betting
there will be good things in the next ones. Even if it's incremental speed and
performance improvements, those changes will be all the more worth it coming
from our Watches compared to upgrading now, then upgrading again.

Finally, I can't see much need for the stainless steel. The screen might be
harder to scratch, but I've never scratched my screen. The unit feels a bit
more substantial on the wrist, but I like the weight of mine. The casing is
harder, but I've had no impact problems with my aluminum casing. I may well be
missing something, but I've never really seen the incentive to spring for the
stainless steel.

RE: Purchasing apple watch

2018-03-24 Thread Sarai Bucciarelli
My series one is so sluggish.

I admit, I like the feel of the SS over the sport. I was told the SS version
can scratch easily on the case, and if you drop it, the watch will shatter.

I have the black sport right now. I do like that silver SS version. Just not
sure if it is worth the price.

RE: How to change my Apple ID

Well, I ended up having to call Apple. In the process, I learned that the
website, although the means by which the deed was finally done, is not very
accessible—it has some very strange behaviours using Internet Explorer on
Windows and isn’t much better on Safari on the Mac.

Hi

I did this a couple of weeks ago.

First, this is very important, You have to sign out of your Apple ID on all
your devices, iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc. etc.

Then change it via a browser like Safari, go to apple.com and sign in using
your old Apple ID. There’s a direct website as well, but I can’t remember it
now.

While changing it, remember to set up a second recovery email address right
away.

Once this is done and you’ve signed out of that page, start signing in with
your new Apple ID on your devices one at a time.

First for example take your iPhone, switch it off and back on again, then sign
in using your new Apple ID. Only once the first sign in is successful, go on to
a next device like your Mac.

The restarting of a device before you sign back in was recommended to me by a
friend, I can’t really say if it makes a difference, but I did it anyway for
what it’s worth.

I am about to change internet providers and my Apple ID is the email address I
will be losing. I have tried to change it several times on my iPhone without
success. I followed the steps listed in the Apple Support app, but it won't let
me change it to the icloud.com email address already listed as one of my
contactable addresses. I keep getting messages saying I can't use the address
but must use one of the addresses on file--that's what I'm trying to use! The
person I spoke with at Apple today didn't help, either.
Has anyone succeeded in doing this and, if so, what am I missing?

Thank you, you are a lifesaver! I'm pretty sure that was exactly it.

Ah, got it. Thank you! I remembered that it was supposed to be easier in iOS
11, but just how it was supposed to be easier escaped me. Now it makes sense.

iTunes Notifications

2018-03-24 Thread Brandon A. Olivares
Not really sure how to describe this one. Just starting a day or two ago,
iTunes has started playing the tritone alert sound, every couple of minutes.

I cannot find any correlation between that and anything iTunes might be doing.
There are no notifications in notification center, nothing iTunes is trying to
tell me about. It just keeps playing tritone every few minutes.

It used to do this only when it downloaded a new podcast episode. But I'm
barely subscribed to any podcasts so this surely can't explain it.

How can I figure out what iTunes is doing to make this noise, and stop it? It's
getting incredibly annoying.

Yes, I just got that message several times tonight. I just clicked on OK and it
went away, at least for a while, and then came back. Just kept clicking OK and
it seems the shows were still running so I didn’t worry too much about it.
