I ended up resolving this by turning off voiceover tapping in the middle of the screen and then turning voiceover back on. I believe at that point the rotor item had re-appeared. Hopefully screen recognition controls will get some help in the new release. I just might upgrade my personal phone

Not sure about this directly, but turning off the screen saver functionality has not always worked as expected in MacOS, I find it much better to set the timeout to 30/40 minutes. Best wishes, You should be able to search for this setting in System Preferences. Jonathan Cohn >
