I've had this problem as well. My way of solving it was to do a mouse click
with the trackpad so system focus could be moved to one of the controls in the
login window, then VoiceOver worked just fine. Hope this helps.

Just an update to this thread, after I've had time to sit down and
reinstall this app. I'm currently using it on mountain Lion just fine.
The problem is, the app found and succesfully accessed user data from
my previous Mac install. It's a great thing for me, because the app
just logged me in to
Evening list members does anyone know if there is a way to get the time
announcement key right command T to announce the time as set on the clock? I
have my clock set to 24 hour time, but get standard A.M. P.M. time when I
press the time short cut keys.

This is just my 2 cents but, I often find those battery time estimations to be
totally useless. It depends on what your doing at any given moment what time
remaining you will see. Screen brightness, streaming media, etc. theirs just
so many variables. At least, this is the case for me.
