Using Alex on iMacs as old as 2008 with Mavericks installed and as little as 2
GB of RAM does not yield choppy speech for me. The ones with 2GB of RAM are
not particularly quick at loading, but once they are up, even with multiple
apps open, VO performs fine.

I haven’t experienced a loss of entries, but VoiceOver fails to announce some
entries for me on certain days. I’m not sure what it is about these entries,
but VoiceOver announces some and not others. The way I can tell that they are
not lost but that VoiceOver is simply failing to announce them
