Re: A question about the Sonos

If you use an iPhone, can you adjust the volume, bass, treble and such? The
Sonos itself is totally flat, and I don’t know how to use its controls.

Re: Battery draining quicly on ipod touch latest generation

2016-11-12 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hello Anne,

Thank you for responding.

I have updated to 10.1.1 on my ipod touch but it still feels rather dodgy. I
have spoken to Apple support and they have advised me to restore my ipod. I
have done so. Things have become better but I'm still uncertain. What makes
me worried is that I would use my ipod touch for an hour or so, never more than
that, and then lock it, and when I use it again, and look at the battery level,
it would be suddenly 20 % less although my ipod would have been on lock
throughout the time.

Your Email. Just Better.
Hey, we love email. Unfortunately, it was designed decades ago without any real
thought to security or privacy. Some 13-year-old Estonian boy is probably
reading yours right now. Even though we all use email — to send and store our
most precious personal and business data — it’s truly broken. You needn’t
worry, though. We have the fix and it works with any email address.

I think my email is fine. Why do I need to encrypt my email?
Why not? You don’t have to change anything with your current email. Just use it
when you want to.

SecureMyEmailTM is a fully-featured email client that can be used in parallel
with your current email setup or software. You can use it for all your email,
or just switch over to it for emails you want to ensure are protected. Even if
you just use it for a few emails a year, it’s well worth the 99 cents.

Google, Yahoo, and other mail providers, read your email and attachments.

They state this is to better target ads to you, enforcement of their terms, or
other reasons they may deem necessary. We’d guess it’s also about building one
big ol’ permanent profile on you. Not cool.
Perhaps you consider this a fair exchange for free email service. Maybe you
don’t. Point is, you probably would like the ability to send and receive a
truly private email every now and then. Right? SecureMyEmailTM lets you choose
what you share with your email provider. And what you don’t.
Email is more than just communication. It’s your digital filing cabinet.

If you’re like us, you save a lot of important things in your email.
SecureMyEmailTM not only secures your email and attachments in transit but can
protect them when they’re stored in email. Only you can access them and their
contents.

Protect against identity thieves,
email hackers, and other assorted snoops.

Even if someone does break into your actual email account, email and
attachments sent and received using SecureMyEmailTM will remain encrypted and
of no use to them.
Plain old-fashioned privacy?

Not to get corny, and surely not to date ourselves, but we remember when
putting something in “the mail” meant something and you didn’t dare tamper with
it. There was a trust there and an expectation of privacy. Like its namesake,
“email” should at least be as safe as putting something in an envelope. But
it’s always been far worse. Until now.

You don’t have to learn a thing. It’s easy.

We spent over two years and a gazillion dollars making it that way. If you’re
using email now, have no fear.

Re: playing music in IOS 10?

2016-11-12 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Kawal,

Thanks for the suggestion. I do know about that other table. It just appears
that with the interface for Music in IOS 10, you have to dig a little deeper
before you can actually play anything. Not a good move on Apple's part, IMHO,
but I guess that's just life.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Battery draining quicly on ipod touch latest generation

2016-11-12 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Andrew,

Is it on iOS 10.1 or 10.1.1? There’s a problem on some iOS devices with these
releases. I had it on my iPhone SE, but fixed it by restoring to factory
settings. I had to do this for iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1. Apparently, a new iOS
10.1.1 has been released which does not cause the problem.
When it happened to me, I reported it to Apple Accessibility and they had me
send them the crash logs for my iPhone, where they found multiple crashes. The
problem is not imaginary.

Cheers,

Anne

Battery draining quicly on ipod touch latest generation

2016-11-12 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Listers,

I have a new ipod touch - the latest one - but I'm somewhat puzzled if not
disappointed, that the battery doesn't last on it as long as it is promised in
the advert on Apple's website. I haven't been using it very much and yet the
battery drains quite quickly. In the last 24 hours i would have used it for
about 3 hours and it's already down to 20% only. Is this normal? Just wanted
to know what your experiences with batter life are, any tips and tricks? I've
switched off "background app refresh", and enabled "reduced motion" both of
which are supposed to improve battery life. I've also switched of mail
fetching so that I do it only manually.

Andrew

Re: playing music in IOS 10?

2016-11-12 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi Donna.

Last week I connected my new 7 + to my Mac to get a ring tone as I have a
favourite ring tone that someone sent me many years ago and it's still my
favourite ring tone. I don't know why I can't just open the same ring tone
which is in ICloud to get it in to my ring tones so I need to connect to Itunes
for that one item. Sorry for all that, let's get back to your question.

So do a bit of exploring in the library table and there you should find your
albums.

By the way I love listening to music using the I phone 7 plus. The only thing
is those headphones which are supplied are not loud enough. I'm waiting for
those Earpods.

OK, well, having said this, I decided to give Siri another go, to see if I'd
have better results under IOS 10. And sure enough, I did. Four out of five
tries, I was actually able to get Siri to play what I wanted. So maybe that
will be the way to go, now.

How to research a problem after forced shutdown

2016-11-12 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
Twice in the past week, I have come in to wake my Mac Mini from sleep to fined
it hopelessly locked up, apparently due to a rogue process eating up all the

down. Since there’s nothing I can do when it gets into this state, I’m
wondering if one of you Mac OS experts can tell me where I might look after the
fact to discern the source of the problem. Are there logs I can examine? My
computer usage patterns have not changed significantly except that nightowl has
been left running and I remember Skype possibly upgrading itself in the past
week or so.

playing music in IOS 10?

2016-11-12 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

Am I correct that there is no way to play an album accept to open it and select
the first song? This is very time-consuming and tedious. On my iPod, which
still runs IOS 9, Play is one of the options that shows up in the rotor when a
particular album is selected. Is there any way to configure IOS 10 so that it
behaves similarly?
Cheers,

Next step is to restore from Time Machine once the SSD is installed.
What do I want to boot into, Recovery Mode? So I can format the drive from DU,

RE: Mac Mini as a windows machine?

2016-11-12 Thread Simon Fogarty
It's not as easy as VM fuson, But it's doable it just took some playing to make
sure I got things correct,
I also made sure that I had my settings correct by getting someone sighted to
check things for me before the final ok.

 Fusion is easier.
