Re: voiceover and zoomtext

2017-01-31 Thread Terje Strømberg
I also like «speak text under voice over cursor» in voice over settings. Don’t
like «voice over follows mouse cursor». One important setting in Zoom Text
under tracking. Keep the folowing items centered in view. Check all three. In
fact, the only two settings under tracking i don’t like is: tol tips and
alerts. All the other is checked. If you then in voice over setting have
checked voice cursor follows mouse cursor and vice versa, the Zoom Text will
follow voice over in many situations in apps and internet, but not all the
stuff. I like full screen magnification in Zoom Text. Also after installing
Zoom Text, the Zoom Text voices will be available for voice over.

The speak text feature on web sites is not good for me. Missing information.

People are different and like different ways of using Zoom Text with voice
over. That is normal.

Take care

Please Join Me in Requesting That The New Explorer Feature, introduced in the Latest Version of the iOS Twitter App, Be Made VoiceOver Accessible

2017-01-31 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I am cross-posting this to both the V iPhone and Mac Visionaries mailing
list.

Recently, Twitter introduced a new Explore feature in its iOS mobile app.

In short, the new Explore feature encompasses Twitter Moments, allowing one
to easily track trending topics, search patterns, etc. Succinctly put,
Twitter Moments has been folded into the new Explore feature.

In the latest version of Twitter Mobile for iOS, when VoiceOver is not
enabled, the Moments tab, located near the bottom of the display, has been
replaced by the Explore tab. Activating this tab causes trending topics,
popular searches, Moments, etc to be displayed. It's really quite exciting.

However, when VoiceOver is enabled, the display reverts back to the classic
Moments display leaving out all of this wonderful new information.

Please join me in requesting that the Explore feature be made VoiceOver
accessible.

The following is a short request that you are free to use in your feedback
to Twitter:

[REQUEST]
Subject: Please Make The New Twitter Mobile for iOS Explore Feature
VoiceOver Accessible

Hello,

In the latest version of Twitter Mobile for iOS, the new Explore feature
cannot be accessed When VoiceOver, Apple's software screen reading solutions
for the blind and low vision, is enabled.

When VoiceOver is enabled, only the Moments tab, located near the bottom of
the display, is available. The new Explore feature is an extremely powerful
tool that should be accessible to everyone, including those of us who are
visually impaired.

Thank you for considering my Request,
[END REQUEST]

Post your request in the App Store as a review, send a tweet to both
@support and @Twitter, and send your request to Twitter via email at
supp...@twitter.com.

Thank you for your support,

Mark

 Hi everyone,

I love Amadeus Pro so far. Just started using it a few weeks ago.

However, is there a way to accessibly apply audio unit effects? I'm trying
to apply a high pass filter, but can't see a way to configure the
settings. I just see a dropdown with presets, of which there are none, a
button to load presets, a preview button, a bypass checkbox, then cancel
and apply. The defaults seem to be way too much because it makes the sound
 muffled.

 Thanks,
 Brandon

When you select All Contacts from the Groups list, you'll notice that, even

Hi,

Yes, that would work just fine. Just make sure that you turn off iCloud syncing for
Contacts in System Prefs first before doing any wiping, otherwise, you'll lose it all.
Also, when it asks if you want to keep a copy of your contacts on your Mac, say
"No". This should help to make sure that there's no duplicates when you
re-enable syncing of contacts. It should have figured that out the first time, but

If that looks good, I want to know if I can safely disable syncing of contacts

The way that the network is set up, the Bell modem is the one that provides the
router function for the rest of the network and has been working very well like
this. If I wanted the new router to take over this job, it would mean
rearranging the location of all the devices as the new router connects to a
Time Capsule bin bridge mode before connecting to the internet.

Home Networking

2017-01-31 Thread Jeff Berwick
Hi there,

My mother in law has purchased a DLink DIR-822 router to add into our home
network. Currently, we have 2 Airport Time Capsules, 1 Airport Extreme, 2
Airport Expresses and the main Bell modem that supplies the house with internet.

We have managed to connect the router to the network and get the internet
working, but it seems to have established its own network. As a result, I can
see all the Mac computers that are connected to this router, but can’t access
any of the Mac computers that are on the networking prior to where this device
is connected.

I think that this router is acting as a router instead of a bridge, but I can’t
figure out how to put it into bridge mode. It seems to have given itself an ip
address of 192.168.0.1, when all other devices obtain their ip from the Bell
modem and it generally assigns its in the range 192.168.2.xxx.

I haven’t been able to find any helpful information on the internet; any
thoughts?

Thx,
Jeff

Thanks Dan. This is very useful. Now that I think about it, you see lots of
this sort of symbolic linking in various containers normally found within the
Library folder of each user. Just never had a reason to dive into this sort of
usage yet.

One possible solution is in terminal. One can create a symbolic link for
an application or folder to another which resides at another location.
This is done using the "ln" command in terminal.

When the link is established the name of an app will appear in the
applications folder but point to where it actually resides elsewhere.

When a mac call is made to the applications folder to open that application

it doesn't know the actual location, in this case another drive.

Re: Looking for a good backup, and restore program?

2017-01-31 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Between Time Machine and iCloud services, you can essentially have a local and
off-site backup solution. With iCloud in Sierra, your documents, Desktop and
other application data is stored locally and off-site. With iCloud Music
Library and iCloud Photo Library, all your music and photo media is stored both
locally and off-site. All your apps you've purchased from the AppStore as well
as the apps you've purchased elsewhere are, for the most part, re-downloadable
from the Net or the AppStore itself. So, essentially, You could re-installed
your MacOS from the Recovery Partition, get all your data and media from
iCloud, and re-download your apps without any third party solution. The only
things you'd be missing in this case is, possibly, your specific network
settings and other preferences.

Now, CCC and SuperDuper are both excellent cloning and backup solutions. They
are local solutions though unless you take your external drive off-site after
each backup. There are other off-site solutions that I've used like Carbonite,
but I found there limitations from the Mac side frustrating and thus have
stopped the service for me.

I haven't personally use carbon copy cloner, but from what I always hear it's
