adding a book to iTunes in Catalina

2021-04-07 Thread Lorie McCloud
if I put a book from Audible in the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder will
it be added when I open Books? I think the audio books are now combined with
books in other formats in Catalina. is that right?

thanks.

RE: Using a VM for windows.

2021-04-07 Thread matthew dyer
Hi,

Vertual box is free, but not sure how well it works with windows. I use fusion
and it is the most accessible. Not sure how much it costs as I bought it a
while ago.

Hi folks.
Was wondering if anyone new of a free option for a VM, or should i just use
Fusion?
Also I was curious about something call CrossOver. It says it will let you run
windows apps without using a vm? but I wasn’t sure if that would actually work
with VO.

Re: A Question About a Possible Voiceover Utility Setting

2021-04-07 Thread Nebojsa Tasic

If you move cursor left, it will be to the left of the spoken character
and you can delete the spoken character by pressing Fn+Backspace.
If you move cursor right, it will be placed to the right of the spoken
character and you can delete the spoken character with Backspace.

It is the same if you go word by word.

Thank you all for your replies and comments. It would have probably

It’s hard to undo over 29 years of another behavior though. I’ll give
this setting a try and see if it is reliable.

Hi,
I think it is under verbosity/text.  You can change the announcement

Sadly I have found this to be unreliable. That is, it works some
times and other times it announces the wrong character.

I found it too flakey to use anything but the default.
YMMV.

Hi,

I have frequently struggled with editing on the Mac. Part of my
struggle is that I use windows for my job and for editing that I do
for my writing group. As a result, when I attempt to edit on the Mac,
I find myself confused as to where the cursor needs to be when I
delete or add characters or words. I’ve listened to several tutorials
and can’t seem to get it right.

Over the weekend on his podcast, Jonathan Mohsen Mentioned that there
is a setting that allows Voiceover to mimic the way that windows
screen readers handle the placement of the cursor. I have looked
through the Voiceover utility and did not find a checkbox to make
this
possible.

I did a search on Google and found this sentence in an old article by
the NFB. “If
you want a more Windows-like feel to Voiceover, you can now choose to
have it speak only what is to the right of the Voiceover cursor when
editing. This
is configurable within the VO control panel.” Is this still possible
and where would I find this setting? I’m running Catalina.

Thank you in advance for any help that anybody has to offer.

Mary-Jo
