Hi Jess, welcome to the list, and to the Mac
as well. The MacBook Air is definitely a good machine. I’ve been using Macs
here since 2008, and don’t think I'd ever switch back over to Windows. I
like that with a Mac, I can pay the same price anybody else

Hello. My name is Jessica (or Jess). I recently got a MacBook Air, which is my
first Mac. For quite a while I relied on just my iPhone or my braille notetaker
to do things, but I decided it would be good to have a Mac as well. I'm looking
forward to learning from the people on this list.

Oh, mine isn’t that quiet. I’m not sure I would have noticed if you hadn’t
said anything.
Cheers,

Well, I’m pleased to report that I’ve finally had time to upgrade and all my
custom ringtones are still there. I agree that the new notification sounds are
quieter, but they are pleasant.
Cheers,
Donna

oh so does that mean I don’t get charged for data usage if it’s on Spectrum
wi-fi? I think mine says Spectrum Mobile.

Interesting. Mine plays a softer sound, that I can’t hear unless I’m literally
holding my phone.

Hi all, remember when I was asking about voices for RS games? Well, I’m trying
out Siri Nicky. I quite like her except I cannot speed her up. Not via Mac
settings or RS game settings. The voice does not respond to the rate slider.
Any idea why?
Thanks,

The following information is
Hi Lorie, if this helps you. If it says spectrum mobile, it is connected to a
spectrum Wi-Fi. It is not connected to your LTE. And as I see it, he can't even
delete those networks. It will connect to these hotspots as long as you have
spectrum mobile service. I've had it connect a few times
Volume of notifications I receive is also unchanged from previous iOS.

Also not true.
I have a custom text notification tone, and nothing changed when I updated to
iOS 17.

yeah. that’s what I did too but I guess I’ll have to watch it for awhile. I had
just been somewhere where there was no wi-fi and I had to use my data. that’s
the network it’s been connecting to. but now I’m home and I cancelled unlimited
data so I don’t want it doing that any more.

Hi. What he's talking about is text tones not ringtones. If you select a new
text tone, you can't go to your custom tone because it's not there. I heard a
rumor that resetting your phone's settings will get the tones back but I'm
taking it with a grain of salt until someone else tries it. I'll
