Hello Donna. This is perfect. Thank you so much. Mark -Original Message- From: 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries Sent: Wednesday, July 5, 2023 5:54 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: A Big Hello and General Personal Apple-Related Updates from Mark Hi Mark, Here’s what I do. First, choose the kind of workout you want, HIT, strength, core, cycling, rowing, etc. I use my iPad, and on the top of the screen you can select a workout category. Alternatively, there are a bunch of workouts listed below that, so if you want you can just scroll through them. Once you’ve selected a workout in your category, double tap to open it. You can see lots of information, including the music selections included in that workout. For me the music matters, because I’m not crazy about most of their music choices. When you find one you like, tap Let’s Go. Then do whatever setup you need. For example, at that point, I get on my rower, strap my feet in, and set the tension where I want it. Once you’re done doing that, Press Play. The Workout will start. Unless you’ve chosen another playback destination, it will play on your hand-held device, but your watch will track along as well, keeping track of time, calories, heart rate, and all the usual stuff. When the workout is over, just tap done. I recommend that you try a few different trainers to find the one who’s style you like best. The additional thing to bear in mind is that if you want to play it to a HomePod, as I do, you actually have to start the workout, go into Control Center, select your HomePod in Playback destination, then end, and restart your workout. It’s a pain, I know. It’s at the top of my list of desired improvements from Apple. Hope this helps. Cheers, Donna > On Jul 5, 2023, at 12:39 AM, M. And just one more thing. Once you find a workout you like, you can add it to your library, and even download it to your device. After you’ve added it to your library, all you have to do to access it is scroll to the bottom of the opening screen. Hi Mark, Donna is correct. I use my iPhone and my Apple Watch. The audio description is a good feature, but sometimes they are played after the first round of exercises. I’ve found sometimes that I have to do the workout twice to get all the descriptions. If you are using VoiceOver, you do not have to do anything. The description will automatically play. The descriptions are very brief. You might want to turn VoiceOver’s volume up as the descriptions can go over the trainer’s voice. Re: A Big Hello and General Personal Apple-Related Updates from Mark
Hi Mark, Here’s what I do. Hello Janet, I do not have any specific questions but just wanted to know how best to start. For example, I tried it last year, or so, just before they added a description feature to the accessibility set. Do you know how this works? I guess what I am asking is should I start the fitness app on my phone and let it attach to my watch or should I start on the watch? I just don't know. Earlier, today, I launched the fitness app on my Apple TV and was asked who is going to work out. It listed my phone with my watch and it listed the watch, by itself. So confusing!!! Any tips you care to pass along will be greatly appreciated. Perhaps you could describe how you use the app? RE: A Big Hello and General Personal Apple-Related Updates from Mark
How accessible is subscription version of Apple News? -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of M. Taylor Sent: Tuesday, July 4, 2023 6:04 PM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: A Big Hello and General Personal Apple-Related Updates from Mark Hello Everyone, First, I am posting this to both lists because I know that a couple of questions I have can be answered by experts on either list. Second, Happy Independence Day for those of us in the US. 1. So I finally decided to give Apple One a try. I have been resistant to it because I do not need all of the features included in the plan but, quite frankly, the billing is better when bundled. I have to admit that being able to read the lyrics of songs that are playing, in Apple Music, is very, very nice. Here is a question: Is it possible to place VoiceOver focus such that as the lyric being sung is automatically read out by VO? 2. With regard to Apple Fitness Plus: Any suggestions as to how best to get started using the features in conjunction with my Apple Watch? 3. Today, for the first time, I finally added a second card to Apple Pay. I must say that I am extremely relieved that selecting the non-default card, at time of purchase, is so easy. I had been reluctant to add a second card, for just that reason. 4. Since I now have access to TV Plus, I guess I will give some of these, apparently, excellent new series a try. I am looking forward to watching Highjacked and Silo. 5. I was just thinking that all of my interaction with the world, in terms of technology, is done via Apple products; accept for my two remaining hardworking and beloved PCs; one that is still running Windows 7 The Windows 7 PC is not connected to the internet. 6. Now don't get me wrong, I love my Android devices but I cannot imagine using them as a primary means of navigating my life. 7. Although a day late and a dollar short, with regard to the thread that asked about good WIFI routers, I prefer Linksys routers and range extenders. In fact, I purchased 2 new range extenders for my home, just last week. I was delighted to discover that when you connect to these devices, for the first time, on an iOS device, the device's built-in web interface automatically launches, prompting you for the required info. Very, very, impressive. In fact, now that I think about it, these new devices can tell you when they are in the best location, relative to other Linksys devices, on the same network. How wonderful technology can be; and the best part? We have only scratched the surface on all that is to come. Finally, I hope you are all doing well and I do hope you will reply to this thread reporting your own personal Apple-related updates, also.
