Yes I agree,

I beleave Jobbs words were along the lines of they’d have to provide sandpaper
to people buying the larger screans to allow them to make their fingers smaller

Oh well where would we be without the iPad.

Oh I don’t know Simon, the larger screens was a direct deviation from the Steve
Jobs vision. As I recall he was dead set against the larger screens.

I do agree though but with or with out steve, the phone was eventually destined
to become an evolutionary product instead of a revolutionary product. We’re at
that phase now where it gets incrementally better but the idea is still the
same. Wonder what the 10 year phone next year will be. I can’t imagine it
being revolutionary but we will see.

Mary, well said and so true. We used to have no idea what was coming out until
much closer to the events.

Anybody remember the cell phones apple left around the bay area to create
publicity? The first was a legitimate mistake where an engineer left his phone
in a bar and it wasn’t out yet. The next year that happened though was faked /
staged.

Now you have a picture of the new phone almost as soon as the present model is
released.

Great point Mary.

Hi Scott. How are you? I read braille, but I don't use it so much with my
Iphone, only sometimes! However, my boyfriend is a braille user to his iPhone
since he is deafblind. I really want him to get IOS 10. Why do you say it wil
not work with the mail app? H euse that a lot with his focus 14 display. I know
you are nto allow to mention it before he release, but do you have any ideas
why it may not work yet. I look forward in hearing from you soon. Thanks and
God bless!

Also, Steve jobs was the key behind the new ideas.

Realistically what has changed on the iPhone since Jobbs died?

There really has been nothing outstanding with its design or configuration
since it origionally came out

Mary, well said and so true. We used to have no idea what was coming out until
much closer to the events.

Anybody remember the cell phones apple left around the bay area to create
publicity? The first was a legitimate mistake where an engineer left his phone
in a bar and it wasn’t out yet. The next year that happened though was faked /
staged.

Now you have a picture of the new phone almost as soon as the present model is
released.

Great point Mary.

2016-09-10 Thread Mary Otten
And now they are already talking about what is going to be in next years
iPhone. People don't have this one in her hands yet. And already the
speculation for next year has begun. This is just too much. And the same is
largely true for the software side, at least for the OS. There is supposed to
be this NDA hush-hush. But everything is all over the mainstream press. The
only exception is access ability, because the mainstream doesn't care about it.
And we're not supposed to talk about it, because some people still think
there's an actual NDA in effect. It only affects us.

I think Jobs was more of a showman. But I also think there's a big difference
with regard to what we know before an event even starts now than there was when
he was around. I mean really. What hardware surprises were there? Not many. And
that has been true for the last several presentations. Leaks are all over the
place in the tech press these days. It kind of takes some of the "wow" factor
out.

That’s funny, I’ve heard the opposite criticism. Apple presentations used to
be showier with Jobs. At least, I think he was a much better showman let’s put
it that way. I was listening to a discussion on Fox Business the other day how
they were lamenting the loss of the jobs era events.

I still like it, there’s a certain excitement around apple release day.

But i think this is more a Bose problem than an Apple one.
I am not sure how to update the firmware on my Bose headphones.

I didn’t like it the first day but now I do and that’s the feature to unlock
and open the home screen separately. There’s an extra push but at least you
don’t unlock and lose your notifications on the lock screen which I like to
scroll through myself.

Siri as a lot more punch now which is cool. I agree though it feels more like
a lot of bug fixes, which is not a bad thing. Audio routing for example is
pretty damn rock solid now which it hasn’t been for a long time.

Re: Ios10 and accessibility

2016-09-08 Thread Scott Granados
Update with out hesitation, it’s a great release. It fixes a lot of the audio
routing problems as well at least the ones I was having so well worth it in my
case and I feel it will be for others as well.

The mac OSX release is also very very good. Update em if you got em.

For what it’s worth, this is the best software release Apple has done post Jobs
in my opinion. Not necessarily for features but more for stability and just a
good all around solid release with fewer bugs than previous whole number
updates.

Definite +1 on the beta. I switched over at about the same time and since they
fixed the filevault and installation problems it’s been rock solid. I agree I
think it was about beta 2 or 3 that things really fell in to place.

Was kind of curious about this myself. I was somewhat disappointed, and a
little concerned, that accessibility wasn’t even mentioned in yesterday’s
keynote. I seem to recall Steve Jobs highlighting changes in accessibility
fairly regularly at his events, and am sad that it doesn’t even get so much as
a mention these days.
