Hi Anne, wow, thanks for this! I didn't even know the hide command existed. Unfortunately, bringing the mouse did not solve my problem on this page, but it's still good to know how to do it. I'm sure I'll need it at some point in the future. Thanks to everyone for your help with this. Cheers

If you want to enforce this a bit, there is an option in the Dock section of Tinkertool to: When switching to application hide all others unchecked This defaults to unchecked, and I am not sure if this is always available, or only when "restricted finder" used by parental controls is in effect.

Hello Donna, I regularly have to bring the mouse to the VoiceOver cursor and haven’t encountered the problems Eric described. However, I am in the habit of hiding any other open applications using the command Cmd-Option-h. This keeps the screen clear for the current application. Cheers, Anne

Sorry, I forgot to add, when pressing control option command f5, the feedback will be the contents of the voiceover cursor, indicating that the mouse has been routed to the voiceover cursor; However, clicking may yeald unexpected results because mac os lets you stack windows on top of eachother,
