Re: Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

I’m going to go way out on a limb here and say

Google is #1
Siri is #2
And computer would be #3.

Not very inventive I know.

RE: Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-30 Thread Simon Fogarty
I've never thought of naming my computers or digital devices,
I have been known to call them names mostly not very nice ones when things go
wrong.

In this situation I can think of a number of names that would be funny but
probably upset femmonists or politically correct people,

I do like Marks idea of computer, Terminator would be another one,

Geeves another I could see going down well in a crowded room,

But one that would spark trouble with the aussies would be "Mate"
A commonly used greeting or name for a friend used both in New Zealdn and
Austrialia,

So you'd wake your device and say "Hey Mate",
 Or Gid Day Mate!

Big Smile.

To All,

By the way, if you'd like to participate in this discussion on Twitter, compose
a tweet that includes the hash tag NameMyAI.

For example one might tweet, (without the quotation marks), "I would #NameMyAI
Bubba."
Include the @AppleSupport handle in your tweet and, who knows, perhaps Apple
will take your suggestion.

I love this thread! I use the male British voice for my Siri and call him

Here are my 3 new names though in no particular order.

AI

Haha. Last week I tried using “computer” as the wake word for the Amazon Echo.
I quickly discovered that I didn’t like it because, when one has to yell
“computer" over a noisy household, the “p” in computer lends itself to spittle.
Yuck! I switched the wake word back to Alexa.

Re: Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-29 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I did see a thread on using Apple Dictation to do things with Siri. I don't
remember the exact spoken feedback, but they suggested changing the default
"Computer" word as dictations' key phrase and changing it to Hey Siri.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Chris, is that across the Echo line of products?

My nephew’s girlfriend is named Alexa and that never ceases to be amusing.

Re: Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-29 Thread Jenine Stanley
I love this thread! I use the male British voice for my Siri and call him
Oliver, though he does sound eerily like a former coworker named Sebastian.

Here are my 3 new names though in no particular order.

Data
AI
and of course, Computer

No stupid (deleted expletive) is not one of mine, not yet anyway.

Re: Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-28 Thread Stacey Robinson
My top choice would be Data. I think I’d follow that with computer. If I
couldn’t use those I’d just want to say Hello cancel my appointment or set my
alarm.

Peace,
Stacey Robinson and GEB dog Kirk.

Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-28 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

As some of you know, there are plans in the works to allow some popular
digital assistants to respond to custom named prompts.

While, as far as I know anyway, Apple as not yet disclosed plans to allow
for this, it is my hope that someday, they will.

So, I was just thinking about what name I would like to use for Siri, were I
given the option. Hence, the subject of this thread.

Of course, being a lifelong Star Trek fan, my first inclination would be to
set my trigger word to "Computer"; as in, "Computer, cancel my appointment
with Oprah for tomorrow." (smile)

However, as I began to think about it, I decided that perhaps, just perhaps,
the word "Computer", may not be the best choice, in the long run.

So, I came up with three names that I would like to use for my AI or
personal digital assistant with one runner-up. They are:

1.
Christine.

2.
Maggie,.

3.
Cecil.

Runner-up: Bobby.

(Big Smile)

Okay, it's your turn, please reply with your 3 top choices for your AI, were
you given the option.

I look forward to reading all your replies,

Mark
