they take thunderbolt, two USBA ports an HDMI port and an actual 3.5MM
headphone jack.

I went ahead and got a new mini a few weeks ago even though it had not been
updated since 2014, seeing what Apple has introduced, I do not regret that
decision. It's plenty fast for what I need it to do and the new minis start at
almost twice the price of what I paid for mine.

I was disappointed that the best thing the new Mini has to offer is six
cores. Yeah, lots of Thunderbolt, but I don't own any such devices, so
I'd have to buy a lot of adapters. And just how many USB ports does one
get out of one Thunderbolt port?

You can have up to 64 gigs of ram, if you need that sorte of thing.
There are 4 thunderbolt
4GB ram, two USBA ports, four thunderbolt ports, up to 2TB SDDS storage and six
core processors for the Mac Mini. Lowest price? $700 or so.
