It has happened to me a few times as well. It’s as if Voiceover gets muted. I
hear the Voiceover sounds as I command+tab from app to up but there’s no
speech. I usually do what you’ve done to remedy the situation.

I’d go with that,
Buy it some flowers and see if it lets you back in the good books.

Well this isn’t the only thing my Mac does that others don’t seem to do. Like
pressing the control key to stop voice over talking works fine on my wife’s Mac
but I have to press it two or three times before voice over shuts up sometimes

past just by turning it off completely and back on again
I might do that anyway.

Hi ET,
Not sure about that, but like I said; I managed to get voice over speaking
again after turning it off and on again. Is a Cold reboot the same as
restarting the Mac? I had a OS update that I installed and had to restart the
Mac.

Were there perhaps a system dialog that needed attention? Sometimes
they appear to be invisible to Voiceover. After 6 weeks this is a
possibility. Have you done a cold reboot?

Hi,
Not normal behavior as far as I know. I took a month of vacation in July, and
returned home to a MacBook Pro that worked normally.
