Hi;
Yes app is accessible. A sighted person will have to draw an area of focus
where they want the camera to show so you don't get too much activation. The
rest is accessible.

Hello,
My family have 2 iPhones running IOS 16.4.1 and we are considering installing a
Ring Video Doorbell version 2. I am blind and so use VoiceOver on one of the
iPhones. Is the Ring App accessible to the extent that I can adjust the
settings, get alarms when the doorbell rings, and be able to talk to the person
ringing the doorbell? Can I setup the doorbell to talk to both of our iPhones?I
anticipate that the doorbell would connectto Many thanks for any help … Paul

Re: Accessibility of Ring Video Doorbell V2

2023-07-16 Thread Yolanda Thompson
So, ring keeps causing MAC users frustration because they say they
will not support MAC, then I think the last thing is the ring info can
be accessed via Safari.
However, on the iPhones it works well. Had to address some
inaccessibility in setup and so forth; however, last I heard they had
fixed this.

Can we get the ring video door cam working with Alexa and how?
Original message:

I have the Ring DoorView Cam, which is the model that replaces a peep-hole.
I find it works well, and the Ring app is very VoiceOver accessible.
Like anything else, it takes a little practice, but I have no issues using it.

I am happy with it.

Hi Simon and Karen,
Yes, I’m a bit like Simon and can’t be bothered with all this automation.
However I agree with Karen as security is very important and I think we are
spoiled here in NZ as not that many people live in apartment buildings. It is
becoming more common now days. I have a security screen on both my front door
and the back door so I can open the main door without giving access to the
person on the other side. Those video door bell monitors have another advantage
as well. A friend of ours was visiting us for lunge the other day and he got an
alert on his iPhone and noticed that someone was at his front door about 20klm
away, lucky they weren’t trying to brake in but if they were at least he could
inform the police.
I’m a male but I still wouldn’t open my security door without checking first. I
think there should be some kind of standard and law that makes all of these
apps for security systems accessible to all. All people should feel safe
regardless of gender or abilities.

1, I use an American shell service to which i TELNET meaning that, even
if the Canadian government engaged in the practice you reference, which to

2, the first link produced a 404 error, which means I reached the site

2019-12-31 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Personally, I would prefer using a system that complies with the Apple
standards for privacy. For example, Ring shares feeds with several police
departments and I am not sure if there is anyway of knowing if your police
department participates. I have also heard from a neighbor that uses Ring that
there is a “neighborhood watch” type of functionality where you can look at the
pictures of neighbors Ring systems. I expect that is an opt in feature. There
were also stories in the news this year about some systems being able to be
completely taken control of remotely if the WiFi password gets compromised.
Thank you, but I’ll stick with Apple home ” certified security systems. There
might be no illegal activity near my house, but I want control of my security
system not Amazon or Google.
BTW, these security doors in New Zealand sound interesting.

Hi there,
You would suggest a 404 error page?
laughs. No dog for me either, against the policy of my landlord as my
single flat is above a business. certainly a camera, even if not being

Intercom seems more than enough for me personally though.

2019-12-30 Thread Petrus Tuerlings

Hi Simon,
I cannot speak for others. Nor have I yet to find a device of this nature
that works as I desire.
Still, speaking personally, after three sex assaults, more than a few
repair people staying silent after opening the door as you describe,
kids knocking and running away when I still lived in an apartment
building, and having to phone the authorities when someone decided to
knock at 1:30 a. m...I would rather have a firm way of knowing that the
person on the other side of my door is someone I wish to encounter.
To make this a tad lighter, I would like to know this before walking down
the flight of stairs between me and my front door presently.
Yes I am a women living alone, and I realize you are not a women living
alone.
Still, that is my take on why some might appreciate the extra technology
layer.

Just speaking personally,
Kare

Re: Ring Video Doorbell

2019-12-30 Thread Brad Snyder
I have the Ring DoorView Cam, which is the model that replaces a peep-hole.
I find it works well, and the Ring app is very VoiceOver accessible. Like
anything else, it takes a little practice, but I have no issues using it.
I am happy with it.
