Are you in standard layout? In the new layout, there is a pop-up box in the
messages column to select sort order and one of the options is unread. In
classic layout y I believe the status does do this, but I would need to test.

You can change the sort order from date to unread messages. This should help,
the other possibility is to create a smart mailbox of unread messages. In fact
the iPhone has one pre-created but not visible by default.

I’m running latest version of MAC OS using mail in classic view. I have unread
messages but I can’t find them. Is there a way to find them or sort by unread

It sounds as though you have the preview pane visible. This means that when you
navigate to a message, it opens automatically, so you never see an unread
message. This is why I always disable the preview pane.

isn’t my problem though. :) My fault and all but I have tons of emails but I
have unread messages in my inbox. I think they are hidden within threads but I
can’t find them. :(
