Hello Anne,

If QuickNav is on and you interact with the input field for To: CC:, or Subject 
then Mojave beeps and lets you type characters. Then when you stop interacting 
with that field QuickNav functions return. However in the body of an HTML  
message QuickNav never seems to disable. I didn't try after interacting with a 
text element within the body text so perhaps then it would work. 
I suppose I should stop looking for complicated answers to simple questions.. 
But then working with a modern computer is not simple, there are all sorts of 
exceptions and things one would expect should work, but they don't.

I don’t think quick Nav ever used to turn itself off, but I’m not a big user of 
quick nav anyway.

Usually this means that you have quicknav on. Remind me friends, in older versions, if you interacted with a text area wouldn't quicknav turn itself off?

Hi Michelle,

When you say that you can’t edit, what do you mean? What happens when you try 
to edit? Is it possible that you have quick nav turned on? Pressing left and 
right arrow together will toggle quick nav on and off.
