RE: downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-25 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi,

Cmd r works but give it some time to load what it needs.

But why are you trying to boot from an external drive?

You could try using start up disk under system preferences,
Or if you have sighted assistance you could try
Holding down the option key at start up and then selecting the bootable option
from your list shown on screen.

Hi all,

While we are on the subject, I have a mac mini from 2018 and I need to get into
the recovery partition to enable booting from external drives, but I am finding
that using cmd+R is not working for some reason. Anyone else having issues
with this? I do not have a motor connected nore do I have one to connect if
that matter. If I do the cmd+R at boot, it just goes strate to the standered
hd mac os partition. Any ideas on this one. I am using mac os 10.15.1.
Thanks.

Simon,

How did you do the erase? If you did it from the Recovery Partition, then the
existing recovery system should be present, whereas if you did it from an
external thing such as an installer drive or target mode, then you have totally
wiped everything and cmd-r will not work. You would need to use cmd-shift-r to
access the Internet Recovery system. The problem with the Internet Recovery
system is that you need to be connected to WiFi, which I've found to be a
problem for us VO folks at this point. If you can get sighted assistance to
connect to WiFi, then you can use Internet Recovery easily after that. I'm
thinking that the full erase disconnected you from WiFi and that is why you're
not progressing to the Language Chooser or MacOS Utilities.

RE: downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-25 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Ann,

Well it turns out I’ve solved the problem and well it’s simply a timing issue.

I used the cmd r option again and just gave it more time.

Then got voiceover up and running.

Note this is a 2015 13inch mac book pro with custom specs

I had Mojave running on it before I wiped it last week,

However when doing cmd r it turns out it’s trying to now install Yosemite hence
the speed of the installation over internet seems to be a bit slower than
average

Thanks for the ideas though,
They are appreciated.

Re: downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-25 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries

Later...

Hi Ann,

Great to know it’s happening to others,

But until I get vo running I’m kind of stuck as to where I am in the start up

Thanks though I’ll keep giving it a try.

RE: downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-24 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi ET,

Well I would have thought yes,

I've tried both and get nothing,

I can't say it's not working
But I'm not even getting the mac os utilities which I should be getting

And normally when I get those I can't get vo working either.

I've not struck this before.

I'll keep trying and see what happens.

Either of these work for you?

Cmd-Option-R or Cmd-Shift-Option-R

Re: downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-24 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Simon,

My husband had a similar problem last Friday. He had to try a couple of times
before Cmd-r would work. After the language chooser screen, if it asks for the
network password, you should be good to go.
Cheers,

Anne

downloading Mac OS Mojave

2019-11-24 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Morning world,

I've just wiped a mac book pro I have
Which had Mojave installed on to it,

I completely wiped it and now when trying to do a command plus r to install
from the net
I'm getting all counts of nothingness,

I've left it 5 minutes before trying CMD plus f5 to start up vo and still get
nothing.

I've got a number of Mojave installers but it would appear Apple have killed
the certs on older installers as these of mine give a corruption message when I
try to run them.

I'm not wanting to install Catalina as the machine is being used as a server
and my server version is for Mojave so I need to install that before updating.

Anyone got an installer I can grab a copy of or other ideas on how to get this
thing setup?

Cheers.
