Hello All:
Ever since one of the most recent upgrades of Mavericks, I am getting messages
that say image crisp, no faces. or something of the like. I tried turning
off notification center but they still persist. What are these and how do I
get rid of them?

It's just got an image tag in there that voiceover is telling you about. If it
is a picture of someone it will say one face or whatever. It seems cool to me,
cool but useless.

They are hints, like when VO says to enter text in this edit field, type or
other hints about what to do. Mavericks introduced a cool new feature that
tells you basic information about any image it is focused on. If you don't like
these hints, you'll need to disable them in the verbosity

I do sometimes, but then I occasionally get hints for other things as well. I
find that, oddly, if I hold down the command key for a couple seconds a hint is
usually spoken.

You can turn this off in the VoiceOver Utility. Press VO-f8 to open the VO
Utility, cmd-2 open the Speech pane, VO-space on the Hints tab then change
the setting for what VO does when it encounters an item with a Help tag. If it
is set to Do Nothing, this will not be announced. You will
