Get Voiceover to Come Through One Ear

Hello,

It’s a weird request, but I need to temporarily have Voiceover coming through 
only one ear on my headphones. I was looking at Audio Hijack to do this 
possibly, but not sure how it’d be done. Any suggestions for ways of pulling 
this off?

Actually, I’m doing a webinar, and trying to share my earphones with my wife so 
we can be on the same computer. But I don’t want to distract her with Voiceover 
when I’m trying to navigate, read chats, etc.

so that another sound source might be channeled through the opposite side?

If you're running the latest Audio Hijack, add an application block from the 
input sources list, then add a second one. Now set one to VoiceOver (that'll be 
for VO sounds), then the other to com.apple.speech. That one you'll have to hit 
shift-space on the popup list of apps or you won't see the speech you need to 
capture.

If you can monitor, or have the drive space to record, this should work then. 
VO will come through one channel, and system audio won't. The System 
Preferences option won't work. Alternatively, plug in headphones and tell 
VoiceOver to use them in VO Utility > Sounds. Then play system audio through a 
different device, such as a built-in speaker or USB sound card, and the webinar 
will come through that.
