Re: Anyone running Big Sur on a 2013 Macbook Air?
You should : 1. Be honest to the buyer about this issue or that you’re not sure 2. If possible, upgrade its HDD to SSD from apple store. It will make the device faster, But be care that this will increase the price and not much difference in high workloads. It will make it feel faster in everyday use, e.g. opening apps, load files faster. It may not make any difference in loading webpages since it is CPU and software related. If you need more technical details, I may add. And I hope someone here has any experience about that different only in any Mac device. It will help explain more accurately than me. If you want to give it to your mother, then try to get higher performing in everyday usage in order not to annoy her with it being slow to her. I don’t know how this model performs, I use 2016 15” MBP with SSD. Generally, old humans have lower patience to new things. According to my experience with Catalina vs Big Sur, Big Sur feels faster. Hope it helps, Regards, Mohamed E. Fayed > On 18 Apr 2021, at 7:21 PM, 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > Hi all, > > I have a 2013 Macbook Air that I’m getting redy to sell. I didn't do anything special. I simply accepted the on screen offer to upgrade once it was proferred. Donna: I'm having no issues running Big Sur on my 2013 era Macbook Air. Mine is fully loaded as of the date of purchase. interesting. My mom's not all that particular about having the latest and greatest, so if it's slow under both Big Sur and Catalina, maybe I will just leave it with its current OS. okay then. my two cents. Leave the unit running the system best for the hardware itself, something I imagine is easily discovered by either consulting apple's site or giving them a call. Same reasoning however. you want to sell from a place of, I now it works perfectly right now. If ou make changes, and there is a problem, the buyer may complaine that you did not sell them what you advertised. just my thoughts, Kare On Sun, 18 Apr 2021, 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries wrote: It's not on Catalina, it's still running High Sierra, I think. Additionally, if you now firmly that the machine runs well with its current operating system, you do not want to upgrade. Largely because you cannot guarantee the quality of what you are selling. I'd use my valuable time because one possibility is that I will give it to my mom. She's older, and not very techie, so it'd be easier for me to do the upgrade for her.
