Sounds like you have customized verbosity settings. Open the VO utility, go to
Verbosity, and you should find a checkbox labeled something like "custom
verbosity options" (I'm not at my Mac so can't check the wording). That should

If you want to change the language to another language this also changes the
voice for voiceover.
To change it switch the rotor to language and then swipe down to change the
voice.
