[maemo-users] I finally got to actually touch a Nokia 770

2006-02-27 Thread John B. Holmblad
Title: Best Regards, All, while at a local Compusa outlet near me on the hunt for something else I discovered the Nokia 770 on display. Nice! Unfortunately I can't say the same for Compusa. There was no price shown for the product or even a display indicating what it was. I simply recognized

Hi, I think that best way is you make a new "flash image" with only applications that you need. Maybe with only a browser. Theres not a kiosk mode but when you press full screen button the browser looks like a "kiosk mode". For sure that you will need some hack to make what you want. Everaldo

[maemo-users] Porting X application?

2006-02-27 Thread Felix Breuer
Hello *, I may be interested in porting TeXmacs to the Maemo plattform. TeXmacs is a plain X application, i.e. it uses the X libraries to draw its GUI, not GTK or any other toolkit. How much work is it to port such an app? Would I have to make it use the Hildon libs first? Or can I just build/li

[maemo-users] Kiosk mode available?

2006-02-27 Thread Christian Kirsch
Hi, just received my device and I am currently thinking if it is possible to use it as an leased internet appliance for some customers. Therefore I would like to restrict the access to some features for example the settings. Best case would be that only the browser is accessible and nothing else.

Hi, I have added a swapon/off menu-item to Jakub's Load-Plugin, http://koti.welho.com/jpavelek/tmp/770/ which he recently released under the LGPL. The swapon/off feature will be useful for those who have a swap on the RS-MMC. (You really should swapoff before you unplug the RS-MMS...) Here a

Hello, Is there a way to unhide known file extensions? This is the first thing that I turn off on Windows and I find it unfortunate that the 770 adopted this "usability enhancement". I have already ran into the situation where I added a known extension onto an file with an unknown extension and, n
