The Web browser on my N800 has stopped working. It loads, activates the
Updating message, and then does nothing. There are no logged
errors, and running it from the command line produces no error messages.

The telepathy and rtcomm upgrades I installed the other day included support
for IRC, but all I get when I configure for irc.freenode.net is a network
error. Is there some nonobvious trick to setting up IRC? I found Xchat for
Maemo, but it's for an older version and won't install.
Has anybody had success in connecting the built-in XMPP/Gtalk client to
AOL/AIM? Supposedly AOL has a test gateway of their own
(xmpp.oscar.aol.com):

I know Pidgin works just fine, but the Gtalk client is lightweight
Perfect! It took a bit of downloading and rebooting, but now I can
declare independence from Pidgin and recover some space.

Since adding GSM capability would bulk up the basic unit, it seems that
perhaps an external GSM enabler would be a good move. Connect via
Bluetooth. Maybe even make it work as a speaker/mike, so I don't have to
wave the Internet tablet around in the air to use the phone. It might
look like
I updated Modest last night, connected and fetched mail. However, it
later began immediately crashing when invoked. I've tried
removing/reinstalling the application and deleting the .modest
directory. Any other advice?

My issue doesn't involve a secure connection, so I opened a new bug.

I thought the browser tab thing was an urban legend, but it turns out
they're there, and probably agnostic to the HTML engine.
Last item in the dropdown menu is Advanced,where you choose the
browser engine, and among its (new?) entries is View with options for
