We have a similar problem on our campus. We did finally convince the admins
to allow any OS on the network and to finally offer wireless. But the
wireless is extremely limited based on ports. Is there anyway other than
setting up a proxy server at my house to use VOIP on N800 through ports I

IT folks won't let me for fear of viruses, worms, etc. Is there
anything on the web that I can show them that would indicate that the
N800 is not a security risk? Or maybe it is??? Thanks!

tell them that _you_ should fear of other nodes viruses since it's a windows
network, they should provide proof of cleanness ;)

If they're going to deny the 770/n800, then I'd hope they also deny PalmOS
handhelds, MacOS, and Linux machines as well. It would certainly show their
incompetence lacks discrimination.
If they do allow any of these other platforms, find out why the exception
was made for that case and show that
